“Till Death Do Us Part”: A campaign that united the region in the fight against femicide

Femicide is one of the most serious social issues that our region is facing today. Its frequency and severity leave deep consequences, while behind every statistic lies a lost life and violence that most often occurs within relationships that are meant to be the safest.

Led by the belief that silence must not be the answer, numerous women’s organizations from across the region joined forces in the campaign “Till Death Do Us Part,” with a shared goal of preventing femicide and empowering communities to recognize early signs of violence and respond in time. Alongside the Autonomous Women’s Center in Serbia, the campaign brings together organizations from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, North Macedonia, Slovenia, Montenegro, Bulgaria and Albania, marking the first time such a broad regional response to this issue has been achieved.

Together, these organizations focus on informing and educating the public about behavior patterns that often precede femicide, as well as providing guidance on how to help individuals who may be at risk. Their message is clear: femicide is not a sudden act, but the final stage of violence that can be recognized and prevented.

The central symbol of the campaign is a black wedding dress, a powerful visual metaphor that reverses the universal symbol of love and new beginnings into a warning about an ending that must never happen. That is why, in collaboration with designers from across the region, Marija Tarlać, Miomir Jelčić, Matea Benedetti, Boris Ćalić, Edis Pala, Adnan Hajrulahović Haad, Monika Kocareva and Iliriana Baša, eight unique black wedding dresses were created.

Two Rivers provides PR support for this important regional campaign, initiated by McCann Belgrade and brought to life by creative and media teams from across the region within the AMA Group.
