Foundation Jedro close to securing therapy for all five boys

Over the past year, Foundation Jedro has made a major breakthrough in the fight to secure treatment for five boys diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a rare and progressive disease that affects only boys. Thanks to the support of citizens, companies, public figures, the media and partners, including the Two Rivers PR agency which has been involved from the very beginning, funds have been raised, enabling four of the boys to gain access to therapy that can slow and halt the progression of the disease.

However, the fight is not over yet. For the fifth and the youngest boy, little Dušan, to have the opportunity to receive therapy and be given the same chance at a childhood and a future, an additional $120,000 still needs to be raised.

It was with this very goal in mind that the Foundation was established, as a joint effort by the families of the five boys to secure funding for their therapy, with support from the wider community.

Since May 2024, the work of the Foundation has been marked by numerous fundraising initiatives, including donor dinners and charity auctions that raised over €100,000, as well as charity sports matches, public discussions, traditional SMS donation days, holiday campaigns and press conferences held at key moments in the Foundation’s work.

Particular attention was drawn to initiatives involving well-known figures from the worlds of culture, sports and the arts, further strengthening the message of solidarity and togetherness.

All those who wish to support the work of the Foundation can do so by sending a text message with the number 5 to 3091 (the cost of the message is 200 RSD), or by making a donation to the Foundation’s designated account in Serbia (Banca Intesa: 160-6000002005224-26), as well as via foreign currency accounts from abroad (EUR: 160-6000001993501-81, USD: 160-6000002003156-22).
